Toshiba Resurrects Libretto Line with Ultralight U100

After three years of absence, the Toshiba Libretto is making a comeback in the ultra-mobile laptop market. The Libretto U100 is smaller, lighter, and more compact than any other computers in Toshiba's lineup. It measures 8.3 inches by 6.5 inches by about 1.2 inches and weighs 2.2 pounds with the standard battery.

The tiny laptop is powered by an Intel Pentium M processor running at 1.2GHz, and has a 7.2 inch WXGA screen with a resolution of 1280x768. That's right, 1280x768. As if we're not blind already...

It has 512MB RAM and a 60GB hard drive, in addition to an available DVD dock which will write DVDs as well as CDs. Built-in networking features include an analog modem, Fast Ethernet port, IEEE802.11b/g wireless LAN, and Bluetooth version 2.0. The computer also has a fingerprint scanner.

The computer is available now from Toshiba, and is priced at $1999 with Windows XP Professional.
